Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 2026

HighlightHype is a private-beta site where parents and guardians share youth sports highlights. This policy explains — in plain language — what we collect, why, and what we never do. HighlightHype is run by HighlightHype; reach us any time at hello@highlighthype.com.

1. What we collect

There are no user accounts in the beta, and we don't ask for athletes' last names in full, birthdays, schools, or home addresses. Please don't put an athlete's full name together with their school or team in titles or stories — our pre-publication review flags that, and the site rules ask for first names only.

2. How we use it

3. What we never do

4. Children’s privacy

HighlightHype is built for parents and guardians to share their young athletes' moments — athletes themselves are not the users of this site. For athletes under 13, a parent or guardian must be the one who submits the play and gives permission (including for other athletes featured in the clip). If we learn that a play about a child under 13 was submitted without a parent/guardian's involvement, we will remove it when a parent/guardian lets us know. Parents and guardians always control their child's presence here — see the next section.

5. Parent & guardian rights — correction and deletion

6. Who helps us run the site (service providers)

We use a small number of providers, by category: a hosting provider (runs the website, database, and media storage), an email provider (sends approval and winner-contact emails), and — only if texting is switched on — an SMS provider (delivers texts to guardians who opted in). These providers process data only to provide their service to us. Separately, when a clip is shared to HighlightHype's own social channels under the Terms of Use license, that clip is governed by the social platform's own privacy policy while it's there.

7. How long we keep things

Plays stay up while the beta runs, until they are removed or a parent/guardian asks us to delete them. Guardian contact details are kept only with the play they belong to and are deleted with it. Server logs are kept briefly for security and troubleshooting, then discarded.

8. Security

Guardian contact fields are kept out of every public page and public data feed the site produces, and moderation tools are restricted to the site owner. No system is perfect — this is a private beta, and we work to keep the data footprint small on purpose: the less we collect, the less there is to protect.

9. Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Questions about privacy, or requests about your child's data: hello@highlighthype.com. See also our Terms of Use.
